I was referred to Rian counselling a year ago by a HSE psychologist, I have still not been given an appointment or contacted at all by this service. I rang about 7 months ago to confirm that I had been referred as I hadnt had any contact from the service, I was informed im on their system but the waiting lists are 6 months long,
Its gone well past the 6 month mark and still no word.
Shame on the HSE and Rian counselling service for their lack of care and consideration for clients, a letter or email to explain that I am on a waiting list would have sufficed, I had to follow up my own referral myself and I am now coming to terms with the fact that the help and support I need and which was promised is most likely not coming.
What a horrendous way to treat people already suffering and in need. Is it any wonder suicide rates are so high when there is no help available.
